Honey Boo Boo: Weight Loss, Interesting Facts, Career, Boyfriends

How much weight did Honey Boo Boo lose?

This is the Honey Boo Boo weight loss journey that everyone’s been talking about on social media.

April 2020:

Mama June’s daughters Honey Boo Boo and Pumpkin were spotted working out as they embarked on a new weight loss regime – this decision came after fans of her mother’s new show Mama June: From Not to Hot left comments about the 14 year old’s weight.

Both Honey Boo Boo and Pumpkin – real name Lauryn Shannon – have also been inspired by sisters Jessica and Anna’s weight loss and other transformations. For example, Jessica recently had a tummy tuck and liposuction as part of $111,000 plastic surgery makeover she underwent with older sister Anna. Jessica weighed 243 pounds when she went into tummy tuck and has since slimmed down to 189 pounds – a massive 54 pound loss.

She also had liposuction on her abs, sides, back and bra area whereas her sister Anna had a boob job and got veneers. Infact, Anna and Jessica had thousands of dollars of plastic surgery done together.

Honey Boo Boo, then 14, and Pumpkin, then 20, now want to start their own body transformation and have started walking every day and eating healthily.

According to an article from The Sun: “they’ve joined together with them and they’ve been going walking every night trying to lose weight and get healthy…….”They are trying to eat healthily too and change their diets. They encourage each other along…….”Fans keep commenting about Alana’s weight this season and now she’s decided to do something about it with the help of her sisters.”

November 2020:

Alana Thompson aka “Honey Boo Boo” posted on Instagram on 13th November 2020, to share a photo of herself posing in a casual outfit. The former pageant star posted to reveal that she’s planning to start a weight loss journey of her own.

“You hating but I’m popping regardless [nail polish emoji],” Alana, 15, captioned the photo.

A follower noticed the teen seems slimmer and commented, “She lost weight, good job sis.”

The former Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star looked happy and healthy after revealing to fans that she would be following in her family members’ footsteps and embarking on a weight loss journey of her own.

“Looking pretty. Are you working on losing weight also?” a fan asked in the comments of a selfie the former TLC star posted on October 28. “Yes ma’am,” Honey Boo Boo replied.

Meanwhile, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird (née Shannon) opted for a more natural approach to her weight loss journey. After starting in September 2018, she’s shared updates with fans on social media on her progress. In September, Lauryn shared a before-and-after photo where she looks like she lost a considerable amount of weight.

What is Honey Boo Boo worth?

Honey Boo Boo first stepped into the limelight as a five-year-old competing in beauty pageants in Tantrums And Tiaras on TLC.

“Honey Boo Boo”  aka Alana Thompson later got the opportunity to star in her own spin off reality show, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

Honey Boo Boo has reported to have made $50,000 per episode when she appeared on the reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. The show aired 55 episodes over five seasons from 2012 to 2017. The family reportedly earned $2.75million from the show before taxes. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Honey Boo Boo has grossed a net worth of $500,000.

Despite these figures, the family is said to be suffering serious financial woes. She is estranged from her mother Mama June Shannon, who was arrested for possession of crack cocaine in 2019. Her half-sister Lauryn, also known as Pumpkin, was incharge of the teen and took care of her. However, their financial woes have escalated further.

According to The Sun, her sister Lauryn’s husband Josh Efird failed to pay the September rent of $1,242 for the home they were once living in and was sued, while also being charged an additional $95 in late fees.

According to the Georgia court papers, the landlord demanded the past due rent and possession of the home. She reportedly sold the family house for a loss, in an effort to get instant cash money. “The only reason I sold the house, I was dead f**king broke,” said Mama June.

Recording & Releasing Music

One of the things adding to Honey Boo Boo’s net worth was through testing out her vocal talents by recording and releasing a song called “Movin’ Up.” The young star even filmed a music video in 2015 that featured cameos from her mom, dad, and sister. Her other Lauryn, aka Pumpkin Shannon, was even listed as a featured vocalist. It seems like this might have been a quick venture, because Boo Boo didn’t make anything else after this number.

Guest-Starring on ‘Here Comes the Bridezilla’ & ‘Marriage Boot Camp’

Honey Boo Boo was definitely paid for appearing in guest roles on numerous other reality series thanks to her popularity.

Even if her family’s initial TLC reality show was canceled for disturbing reasons, it didn’t stop Honey Boo Boo from continuing in the industry.  The precocious teen has been a guest star on shows such as Here Comes the Bridezilla, and Marriage Boot Camp. Although it’s unclear how much Honey Boo Boo made per episode, it was probably in the same range as her Here Comes Honey Boo Boo money.

Brand Ambassador for Fab Fit Fun

Alana has nearly 1 million followers on Instagram, so as a brand ambassador, she can make nearly $10,000 per post, according to Vox.

The teen who just turned 15 this year has been working with Fab Fit Fun for a few months, and she has done several posts for the monthly beauty box subscription. Honey Boo Boo even has her own manager, Gina Rodriguez, who helps her get deals like these.

Brand Ambassador for Chicken Nuggets

Honey Boo Boo is also a brand ambassador (and longtime fan) of chicken nuggets. The then-6-year-old famously told Mama June that she “just can’t” stay away from the nuggets and brands came calling!

Her talent agency, BMB Talent, knows her well and got the hook-up with HomeStyle Harvest Chicken Nuggets. Each of these paid posts is likely raking in at least $10,000.

‘Dancing with the Stars Juniors’ Contestant

Alana made quite a deal by competing on Dancing with the Stars Juniors. As a contestant, she made $67,500 for her time on the series. Sadly, Alana didn’t go to the finals during the Halloween episode after a Ghostbusters-themed dance earned her 21 out of 30 points. Her partner was Tristan Ianiero, and they were the fifth couple to be eliminated from the competition.

Inheriting Property From Mama June

Mama June once promised Alana and Lauryn her family home in Georgia. The girls were happy and naively planning on living there together and were shocked to learn that June had sold it for a fraction of its worth.

Mama June’s net worth has been dropping significantly, as she’s growing more and more debt by staying in casinos and trashing hotel rooms, so Honey Boo Boo won’t be inheriting much from her mother.

Protecting Money From June

Thankfully, Alana’s money is protected from Mama June and is in a completely separate bank account that June cannot access. As sad as it is to say, June cannot be trusted. The troubled mother reportedly has a terrible gambling, drunk driving and cocaine habit that has taken over much of her life. Luckily, June appears she is ready for help, but her family is still being wary when it comes to money.

Steady Career Ahead of Her

Alana has tried multiple forays into the entertainment field with a certain degree of success. One thing to note is that the reality star has what it takes to be a television personality.

Once she gets a little older, Honey Boo Boo will likely have her own reality series or earn a living from being a social media influencer as a branding queen. Until then, she is able to focus on her schoolwork and make decent spending cash with Instagram posts, TV show appearances, and her merchandise.

She also said she’d like to be a manicurist and would love to work at McDonalds “for the Chicken McNuggets.”  This dream came true!

At 13, Honey Boo Boo Was Almost Driving:

Honey Boo Boo, aged 13, shared with Page Six at WE tv’s “Bridezillas” event in New York City how excited she is to be able to drive soon.

“I cannot believe it,” she said. “Next year!”

In August 2020, Thompson will turn 15, which is the required age to apply for a learner’s permit in her home state of Georgia. The former pageant queen said she already has an idea of what kind of car she wants.

“It’s definitely not going to be a Lamborghini,” Thompson said. “I mean, if I get offered that, I’m definitely going to take it. But I’m down to earth, so maybe a Honda.”

Kelly Bensimon, who was also at the event, tried to sway Thompson to get a pickup truck because “it’s the most fun thing and all the cool girls drive [one].”

However, before Thompson starts visiting dealerships, she must learn to drive first. Her sister, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, told Page Six she hasn’t let Thompson practice in her car yet because the teen “doesn’t know how to drive.”

Thompson responded with annoyance, “I’ve got to learn to drive to know how.”

Sugar Bear Pretty Much Walked Out On Honey Boo Boo:

Sugar Bear has been reportedly absent from the family for quite some time. However, this development is a rather sad one if the accusations are false.

Both Mama June and Honey Boo Boo have maintained that Sugar Bear hasn’t been a part of their lives for a while. From the moment Sugar Bear became wrapped up with Jennifer Lamb, all of his time and attention became focused on his new partner and his daughter was left in the lurch.

This hasn’t really bothered either Honey Boo Boo or her mother, however, as they maintain that Sugar Bear had body shamed Honey Boo Boo in the past.

Jennifer Lamb Tried To Sabotage Honey Boo Boo’s Diet:

Jennifer Lamb may be the reason for Sugar Bear’s prolonged absence, but we’re betting Mama June is kind of okay with that– particularly since Lamb’s alleged sabotage of Honey Boo Boo’s diet.

Mama June worked hard to lose weight and get fit, surgeries or not, and it became very important to her to extend those healthy choices to her daughter. However, apparently Lamb didn’t agree with Mama June withholding sweets and snacks from Honey Boo Boo and made a promise to give the young girl anything she found herself craving, especially whenever Mama June wasn’t around.

In addition to this back stabbing, Lamb and Sugar Bear made incredibly insulting and derogatory remarks about Mama June and her weight loss, cracking negative jokes that her new trainer used junk food to lure her into exercise.

Honey Boo Boo Met Jennifer Lamb Without Mama June’s Knowledge:

Watching your child meet their parent’s new love is never easy. However, Mama June never had to deal with that … because Honey Boo Boo met Sugar Bear’s new partner Jennifer Lamb without her mother ever even knowing about it. If that weren’t bad enough, it appeared that Sugar Bear and Jennifer Lamb were using Honey Boo Boo to get intel on Mama June. During the meeting, Honey Boo Boo was prodded for information on how her mother was dealing with Sugar Bear’s engagement to Jennifer Lamb before the group began to plan Honey Boo Boo’s wardrobe for the upcoming wedding. Honey Boo Boo openly admitted that her mother would have heavily disapproved to the meeting and promised to keep the incident a secret from Mama June.

Honey Boo Boo Has A Trust Fund:

The Shannon family may have started out struggling for money, but working for TLC has provided Honey Boo Boo with future financial security.  To make sure nothing happens to her newly received stash of cash, Mama June has been placing her daughter’s paychecks in a trust fund. At the age of seven, Honey Boo Boo made between $15,000 and $20,000 per episode — that’s good money for a girl who is only in elementary school. Mama June has made sure that Honey Boo Boo will not have access to her trust fund until she is 21 years old to ensure a stable adulthood. Sometimes things happen that are out of our control, so Mama June made allowances for medical emergencies and things of that nature just in case.

Mama June Was Prosecuted For Not Paying Child Support:

Mama June was famously linked to child predator Mark McDaniel before her time with the also allegedly abusive Sugar Bear. When it was discovered that McDaniel had been abusing Chickadee, she was removed from the home and Mama June’s mother Sandra Hale was given custody.

Mama June then  failed to pay several months’ worth of child support for Chickadee. The Henry County Defense Attorney filed charges against Mama June, saying that her payments were behind by a massive $4,144.62. Mama June faced jail time if the payments continued to go unpaid and a mugshot was even taken for an accompanying contempt case. However, June assumedly paid the fines and avoided prison in the end.

Mama June Accused TLC Of Double Standards Over The Duggars’ Abuse Scandal:

When TLC discovered the allegations against Mark McDaniel they promptly dropped the Shannon family and the show. Shortly after, accusations of abuse were leveraged at Josh Duggar and… nothing happened. Mama June became enraged at TLC’s lack of action against the Duggars and their show, 19 Kids And Counting.

Mama June accused the network of having double standards and protecting the Duggars because of the family’s high-powered producer friends. She made further accusations alleging that the network was likely coaching the Duggars through the media backlash to minimize damage and save face.

Those accusations weren’t totally baseless, though– she had personal experience with similar behaviors during the cancellation of her own show. Mama June claimed that TLC would not allow her or her family to make their own public statements and were coached through their appearances.

Mama June Was “Incoherent” At Uncle Poodle’s Wedding:

When Uncle Poodle married Alan Stevenson in 2015, the wedding was supposed to be aired as a special episode of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. However, the Mark McDaniel scandal broke and the show was pulled off the air before the wedding episode ever made it to television.

Turns out, that might have been for the best, because Mama June made quite a bad impression during the celebration. Poodle revealed that Mama June was “goofy and incoherent” from the very beginning of the wedding.

It was never confirmed whether or not June was under the influence at the time, but she did eventually sleep off whatever ailed her. Despite her calming down, Poodle was still disappointed and uncomfortable with Mama June’s behavior at his wedding.

A Forklift Once Ran Over Mama June’s Foot:

Apparently, Mama June is very particular about keeping her feet covered up at all times. It turns out that this is because of an old injury, which left her foot deformed. Before she found fame, Mama June was working in a warehouse and suffered a horrific injury when a forklift ran over her foot. Her foot never returned to normal and has been misshapen ever since.

June normally kept her “forklift foot” under wraps, refusing to go anywhere or do anything without socks or shoes on. It’s said that she kept her deformed foot hidden from everyone, including her family. She even once wore socks to get a pedicure.

However, Mama June finally found the courage to reveal her foot to the world on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

The Family Once Got In A Car Accident The Day Before Pumpkin’s Birthday:

There aren’t too many things that can happen to totally wreck your birthday, but a car accident is definitely one of them. The entire family was in the car when they were hit by another driver and forced to take a trip to the hospital on Pumpkin’s birthday.

Poor Pumpkin was so startled by the incident that she suffered a panic attack, as well as bruising on her chest- what a birthday!

Other family members were not too bad and only suffered from minor bumps and bruises along with whiplash and sprains. Still, Mama June vowed to give Pumpkin a wonderful fourteenth birthday and promised to celebrate after everyone was released from the hospital.

Chubbs Was The First One In The Family To Graduate High School

Not all of the Shannon family firsts are negative. When Chubbs graduated from high school, she became the first person in the family to ever do so. When Chubbs graduated in 2015, the entire family was so proud of her they all got together to celebrate and attend the ceremony.

Chubbs followed up her high school success by attending nursing school at South Georgia State College. Mama June was so proud of Chubbs that she bragged about her daughter to her social media followers.

Honey Boo Boo is currently in sixth grade so she’s got several years to go before facing her own high school graduation, but we’re sure she’ll do just as well as her big sister.

Kaitlyn’s Extra Thumb Was Recently Removed:

Mama June’s little granddaughter Kaitlyn underwent surgery at only 4 years old. Kaitlyn underwent a procedure last year to remove an extra thumb that she had been born with on her right hand. She had to wear a cast for six months following the operation.

The family seriously debated going through with the procedure, but ultimately decided that it would be in Kaitlyn’s best interests. They were worried about future medical issues that could arise as Kaitlyn gets older.

Of course, Kaitlyn’s mother Chickadee wanted to avoid the soon-to-be Kindergartener from getting bullied when she began elementary school. This is a valid point, sadly– little kids can be cruel bullies at times. Kaitlyn made it through the procedure just fine, though there hasn’t been much word on how she adjusted to the loss of the thumb.

Mama June Accused Sugar Bear Of Child Abuse

Everyone expects drama from a reality TV show, that’s just part of the deal — especially when children are involved. However, nobody expects the skeletons lurking in the Shannons’ closet.

Mama June has been romantically linked to child predators in the past. Though she hasn’t accused Sugar Bear of those crimes, her children were still subjected to alleged abuse at the hands of Sugar Bear.

Mama June accused her ex-boyfriend of being emotionally and physically abusive towards her daughters during the time that they were in a relationship together.

The girls’ family history is pretty harrowing, but their mother has vowed to make some major changes in their lives going forward. Mama June promised to keep her children out of harm’s way in the future.

Mama June Has Struggled With Weight Loss

Mama June famously lost hundreds of pounds after a strict diet and a new exercise regimen, but she did have a little help from a dedicated personal trainer and a very public weight loss surgery.  This wasn’t Mama June’s only experience going under the knife either. After dropping the weight, Mama June had her excess skin removed, following her dramatic makeover. While she’s proud of her hard work, the weight loss didn’t come without setbacks. Adjusting to the surgery was incredibly difficult for Mama June at first. She admitted that she couldn’t stick to the right amounts of food following the procedure and would initially eat so much that she would throw up. However, she soon put all of that behind her by learning what her new limits were.
