In June 2018, the US government instructed all the federal workers to declare their cryptocurrency holdings, one by one everyone began to come out in open. As per the present reports and scenario, approximately $30K of crypto-holding has been revealed. Recently, Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gabbard, a national political figure revealed her cryptocurrency holding to the federation. Included in the report, she mentioned that she bought Ether (ETH) worth $276.955 along with the Litecoin (LTC) worth $57.1279.
The report that she submitted revealed that her holdings might calculate to the rough amount between $1,001 and $15,000 for each cryptocurrency she owns. Although she has revealed her crypto-holdings, she did not mention the exact date of the transactions leaving a gap in the size of her holdings.
Although Gabbard did mention her cryptocurrency holdings, she mentioned no word about bitcoin, many of the other politicians showed a great support towards the bitcoin. At present, in total 8 of the well-known political figures have come out with their cryptocurrency holdings. Among those are Jared Polis and Rand Paul. This happened right after the United States Office of Government Ethics (OGE) declared that federal employees must declare their cryptocurrency holdings.
In June, the legal advisory recognized that virtual currencies are on the verge of surging. This is why the advisory has observed all the virtual currency holders to seek guidance from the ethics officials with their financial disclosure.
As per the authorities, Virtual currency is an investment asset and is considered as other property held for investment. It might seem that it has a potential of generating a conflict of interest among the employees who own it.
Since the rule came out many government officials have come clean about their holdings in cryptocurrency. Tulsi Gabbard has become one of the first congresswomen to reveal her cryptocurrency holdings in the recent report revealed today.
