Minnesota Timberwolves defeat the Houston Rockets 121-105 in game three of the first round of the NBA Playoffs after their years long playoff draught. The Rockets still lead the series 2-1 but the way Minnesota played today they showed a lot of promise for the upcoming games in the series and proving that they are an actual contender.
Jimmy Butler looked in great rhythm as he lead his team with 28 points whereas his old Chicago teammate and and NBA league MVP Derrick Rose score 17 points off the bench in just 21 minutes. Minnesota’s star big man Karl Anthony Towns recorded a double double with 18 points and 16 rebounds whereas their starting point guard Jeff Teague also tallied 23 points along with 8 assists. Houston Rocket’s duo of Chris Paul and James Harden weren’t able to contain the excellent offensive show of the young Timberwolves lineup, James Harden had another great night as he filled the stat sheet with 29 points 7 rebounds and 7 assists where Chris Paul had 17 points to go along with 6 assists.

It won’t be an easy journey to the second round but the Houston Rockets are the favourites at present but nothing is definite in the NBA as the Timberwolves growing trust in the ex league MVP Derrick Rose has started paying off. Rose looked like his former self when he came of the bench and scored 10 points in the second quarter itself, it would be interesting to see how long can Derrick Rose continue this form and will he be able to lead the comparatively inexperienced Timberwolves past the Rockets to the next round.
