IOB Chennai cruise past Punjab Police to reach the Semi Finals at the 32nd Federation Cup in Chittoor

Bengaluru, 5th May 2018: The 32nd Federation Cup is going on at the District Sports Authority in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh on 1st May. The best club/state teams from the top 8 states in both the Men’s and Women’s category with addition of the hosts Andhra Pradesh are participating in this 6 day long tournament.  The championship is being organised by the Basketball Association in Andhra Pradesh under the aegis of the Basketball Federation of India.
On the last day of the league matches the star studded Indian Overseas Bank faced the  Punjab Police Team with their leading player as Satnam Singh. The game was very physical from the starting minutes itself, both the team went at it from tip-off. At half time Punjab Police had just a single point lead over IOB but the second half of the game completely belonged to IOB as G. Sivabalan guided his team to victory with 26 points whereas veteran Rikin Pethani chipped in with 21 points as well. In the last matchup of the day defending champions ONGC faced BSF Jodhpur. This game had a lot of expectations as people were hoping to see the former Indian team captain Vishesh Bhriguwanshi back in action again in this game which didn’t happen but the current Indian Team Guard Muin Bek kept the excitement alive and had an excellent game scoring 21 points and leading ONGC to the Semi Final with a comfortable victory over BSF Jodhpur.
