Man Maid Things

Today Morning my maid asked me to get her a new fridge for kitchen, at first, I was little hesitant to say anything but on a second thought, I decided why not? and this was the moment something struck my mind.
She is asking for something apart from her regular salary and perks at festivals, so should I buy it for her? This looks similar isn’t it? Don’t we ask our HR and managers for additional perks apart from the regular incentives? Aren’t we in the same shoes?
If our maids are asking beyond what is offered I think they are just trying to simplify their lives just like us. My intention is not to convince you to give away all your property to them but at least, once or let’s say twice in a while reward them with something (not necessarily in monetary terms). That will help in staying motivated and beyond that you are making them happy.
Three years back when I was in Bangalore I was looking for a cook, finding someone who satisfies a north Indian’s taste buds in the southern part of the country is tricky, however I managed to get one exactly the way I imagined, she prepared delicious cuisines while always carrying a sweet smile on her face.
While connecting with her, I came to know that she is a single parent having two children, younger one very good in academics and appearing for board this year and her elder son got a job offer with an IT firm recently. They also have a small shop, managed by her younger son. She has been a single parent since last 18 years and while telling her background and briefing me about how she raised her kids, she had a very beautiful smile on her face and pride in her eyes which probably broke me down in tears.
Salute to the spirit of people who despite having troublesome lives deal with the challenges and circumstances positively.
