Do you travel often? Here are 10 genius tips to maintain your hair & beauty

travel hari and beauty

We all love travelling and exploring new places. But it can bring about havoc with the beauty regime we’ve perfected at home. With all the scheduled travel itineraries, packing limitations and changing climatic conditions, it can affect your hair and skin in so many ways that I can’t even begin to explain. Well, as they say, prevention is better than cure and hence these tips will help you in avoiding all those hair and skin problems.

After all these years of travelling, I have managed to make a list of top 10 tips which will help you take care of your beauty so that your focus remains on enjoying views and not your body!

1. Inflight facials

Flying for long hours can make your skin dry and look dehydrated. While you practically have nothing to do while you are in the flight, you might as well take care of your skin by using a good face mask or a sheet mask.  I recommend you to go for The Face Shop’s sheet masks which are easily available online. If you have a higher budget, you can try out Laneige’s water sleeping mask which makes your skin plump and look super hydrated.

So now when you reach your hotel and get ready for the day, your makeup will glide on super smoothly and give a glass skin look.

2. The Oil Therapy

Oiling your roots is the best source of nourishment you can provide your hair with. Oiling helps to repair all the damage from travelling to different weather conditions and protect it from any further damage. Argan oil and coconut oil are just beyond perfect for your hair as they moisturize your hair and make it more manageable.

3. Magic serum

If you loving styling your hair using heat tools especially during travelling or events, a good serum will be your best friend. Hair serums usually have a thick formula which moisturizes your hair and leaves it smelling good. So here is a tip, use a serum before you use any heat tools to your hair.

The serums that I highly recommend are-

L’oreal Professional Serie Expert Liss Unlimited Serum(INR 650)

4. The Pretty Fix

Always go for hair accessories like headbands, hats, scarves etc that keep your hair in place and protect it against sun exposure and pollution. Beautiful scarves are available in the market these days that can revamp your travel attire and also provide protection to your hair. This is one of the fanciest hair care tips while travelling.

5. Bun it Up

If you have a bad hair day, oily scalp, frizzy hair or literally anything else, just don’t think twice and simply bun it. This will help you to avoid getting distracted by your hair every now and then and live in the moment when you probably just want to enjoy your time in this different city. Making a bun is super easy, and you can style it with some accessories to make it look cuter.

6. Blot The Oil Away

Travelling through different weather conditions can make your skin oily and sweaty especially during summers. Make sure you always carry a set of blotting paper with you to dab any excess oil so that your makeup stays in place and you look fresh. These are readily available in the market.

The one I recommend you to go for is-

Shiseido Blotting paper sheets(Pack of 100) available on Nykaa.

7. The Instant hair solution

With travelling comes, salty water at beaches, varying weather conditions, chlorinated water in pools, and the list goes on. Taking care of your hair can be really difficult and hence you can go for a customized hair care solution which takes care of all your hair problems so you don’t have to.

I recommend you to go for Freewill’s haircare range which curates shampoos and conditioners according to your hair type. The 250 ml shampoo at INR 750 and combo (250 ml shampoo , 150 ml conditioner & 30 ml serum) at INR 2150. They also  have a great 3 month plan (INR 1100 / combo) that you can check out.

8. Deep cleansing face mask

Doing facials can be difficult while travelling as you tend to be tired after the all-day adventures. Go for a deep cleansing face mask which removes all the gunk from your skin and makes it look refreshed so you’re ready for the next day as it comes.

You can go for The FaceShop’s Jeju volcanic clay mask which literally does wonders for your face! If you’re looking for an inexpensive dupe for the same, I highly recommend the Mamaearth’s C3 face mask.

9. Don’t skip the Sunscreen

A lot of people still don’t understand the importance of using a good sunscreen. As you travel, it’s extremely important to use a good SPF to avoid excess exposure to the sun rays. Keep reapplying the sunscreen all over your body every 3 hours during the day. Be it summer, winter or monsoon, do not skip on this step!

I recommend you to go for Neutrogena ultra sheer sunblock with SPF 50.

10. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

Carry a bottle everywhere you go and drink plenty of water while you are on the go. With all the adventure sports, walking tours, hiking etc you need to keep yourself prepared for the same on the inside. Water acts as a natural cleansing agent, aids in digestion and removing impurities, the result of which of course is glowing skin. So along with beautiful skin, you will also be prepared for all the fun that comes through the day.
