Satya Pal Malik is the new governer of Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, 23 August 2018: Satya Pal Malik is the new governor of Jammu and Kashmir state. He was sworn in by the first women chief justice of state High court Gita Mittal today morning at Rajbhawan in Srinagar (the summer capital of Jammu And Kashmir State).
At the oath ceremony, former Chief Ministers of the Jammu and Kashmir State Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti were present with the list of about 400 guests who were also part of the ceremony.
Satya Pal Malik was appointed as the New Governor of the state on 21 August 2018 by Ram Nath Kovind, President of India.
Malik had reached Srinagar on Wednesday and was received by advisors of the government Vijay Kumar, Khurshid Ahmad Ganie, and BB Vyas at the Srinagar International Airport.
 
The appointment of the New Governor is significant at this time because hearing of article 35A is scheduled on 26 of this month.
Also, the appointment of the new governor is significant due to the recent breakdown of the BJP and PDP coalition government and the imposition of governor rule in the state.
 
Malik 71-year-old had a law Degree from Meerut College, Uttar Pradesh. Before appointed as the governor of the state Malik was the governor of the Bihar.
He is the former Member of Parliament from Aligarh Before appointed as the governor of the state Malik was the governor of the Bihar.
He was sworn in as the 13th governor of the state. Malik preceded the highest position of the Jammu and Kashmir state by replacing Narinder Nath Vohra who term will come to an end on the month of July this year. Vohra had completed two full terms 10 years as a Governor of the state.
