Treat Your Mind and Body

Mental health days become ever more critical nowadays thanks to the stress put on you to perform by your peers and superiors. While many people have different opinions on work leave and when it should be taken, you are responsible for your health. Use your work leave to your advantage and take some time off as needed.

Remember to also not compare yourself too harshly to others. You and your peers are not the same, and others can keep marching on where you might need to take a quick breather. You are not any less valuable for it, as everyone has their different strengths and weaknesses.

If you can, why not splurge on a fancy (or not so fancy depending on your budget) spa treatment? If you are unable to indulge in a spa treatment, self-massage at home coupled with a DIY facial or mani and pedi is a good alternative. You can also do your own aromatherapy treatment at home. These treats are more than pleasurable indulgence; they also help to keep stress at bay.

Rest

Of course, rest goes further than simply getting enough sleep. Linking back to treating your mind and body, you will also need to find appropriate times to give yourself adequate rest from work. This will, of course, require a bit of time management and scheduling.

If you can manage to get perhaps a day off for a long weekend here and there throughout the year, that can have a considerable impact on reducing your stress as you give your mind and body a day to relax and focus on enjoyable activities.

This might coincide with workout days, where you can go for a run or swim to get those happy chemicals going. Or you might take some time to watch a comfort show or movie – how you rest is up to you.

A good workout will not only burn fat and improve your cardiovascular and overall health, but it will also leave you in a better mood thanks to the release of the hormone endorphins. Experts advise aerobic exercise for stress relief. When you are more optimistic and vibrant mentally, you will automatically be less stressed. Additionally, exercise reduces the amount of stress hormones in the body.
