Who will host the Oscars in 2023?

When Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes divided and dominated the stage the previous year, we had the trifecta of hosts. This year, the Oscars are sticking with Jimmy Kimmel, a tried-and-true formula, instead of such novel formats. Yes, the late-night host is once again in charge of the celebrations after hosting them in 2017 and 2018. This will be his third time doing so.

“I think I understand what needs to be done well. Honestly, all you have to do is be funny at the start, funny throughout, and then continually apologize for how long the performance was, Kimmel told ABC.

Let it be known that Rihanna is still having a big year since on March 12, she will perform her Oscar-nominated tune, “Lift Me Up,” from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever album at the Oscars, following her historic Super Bowl performance and pregnancy announcement. Significantly, she is performing on the Oscars stage for the first time.

The Talking Heads’ “This Is a Life” from Everything Everywhere All At Once will be performed by Talking Heads founding members David Burne, Son Lux, Sofia Carson, and Diane Warren with Stephanie Hsu. Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava’s Oscar-nominated song “Naatu Naatu” from RRR will also be performed by them.

Sofia Carson is planned to perform “Applause” from Tell It like a Woman on stage with Diane Warren, and although it hasn’t been confirmed, Lady Gaga is expected to perform “Hold My Hand” with BloodPop to honor Top Gun: Maverick’s nomination.

Who has been nominated for an Oscar in 2023?

Everything Everywhere All At Once is currently in style leading up to the Oscars on March 12. The Michelle Yeoh-starring movie is likely to perform well with 11 nominations thanks to the SAG and Critics Choice awards. Best Film, Best Actress (Yeoh), and Best Supporting Actor and Actress are among them (Ke Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu).

With nine nominations, The Banshees of Inisherin is not far behind. Don’t rule out either of those movies, though, as the German adaptation of All Quiet on the Western Front also received nine nominations.

Other noteworthy nominees this year include Angela Basset, the first performer to ever receive an Oscar nomination for a Marvel movie, and first-time contender Brendan Fraser, whose performance in The Whale received acclaim from reviewers despite the controversy surrounding his fat costume for the movie.
