How to Prepare for a Live Sports Game

How to Prepare for a Live Sports Game

Ever since the global pandemic halted the way industries operated, it’s clear to see that life will not be the same. Every sports league continues to make adjustments for their teams and how they’ll operate moving forward. The NBA is holding games at Disney World. Frequent testing is mandatory. No fans are invited or allowed to see the games in person. It’s hard for people to adjust to this reality. Whether you’re an avid follower of cricket or a lover of all things sports-related, consider how you can enjoy the current climate while preparing for the future.

The Home Experience

Whether you’re watching a tennis match or a hockey game, you can still have fun when you’re watching it from the comfort of your home. In fact, make it an experience by setting up the room in a certain way. Gather all of your favorite snacks together. Get your favorite blanket so that you can feel completely comfortable. Make sure your phone is charged so you can scroll through social media as you enjoy the game. If you have a Twitter account, follow the game’s hashtag in order to see what others are thinking about the game. With an on-going Twitter conversation, you can feel like you’re not quite alone in your at-home experience as you watch the game.

Friends and Competition

With the stay-at-home orders, it’s been harder for people to connect with their friends. As a result, many people have resorted to video conferencing technology in order to connect. There are plenty of online platforms that allow you and your friends to hop on a video conference call with one another. You might have to pay an extra fee for a ton of people to join. However, once you’re all on the call, you can share your screen or make sure everyone can watch their screens at home. As you all watch the game together in real-time, it can be fun to see everyone’s reactions and responses to what happens throughout the game. If you all like the idea of adding some friendly competition into the mix, consider online cricket betting. If you love cricket, this is a great way to up the ante and add more excitement. Plus, you all can enjoy great conversations as you create virtual memories together.

Safety Protocols

Eventually, everything will open back up. Even though it seems impossible right now, the day will come when everyone can be in the same arena. Granted, you’ll still want to play it safe when arenas open back up. For starters, it’s always best to follow the rules that are put in place. If you can only purchase a certain number of tickets per person, that rule is put in place for safety precautions. Don’t try to cheat the system because this can backfire by negatively impacting someone else’s health or well-being. Furthermore, you’ll want to walk with your own set of PPE. In addition to wearing a mask and gloves, it’s a wise move to carry your own hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes and disinfectant spray. A mini-can of disinfectant spray can be especially helpful for spraying down surfaces of seats, doorknobs and more. Just because the arena personnel clean and sanitize doesn’t mean you can do your own.

Social Distancing

For the foreseeable future, social distancing will remain a major part of the conversation. When you do attend sports games, be respectful of other people and their need for space. Most health professionals suggest maintaining a distance of six feet. Ideally, it’s best to avoid indoor arenas in the beginning. If you want to attend live games, choose the games that’ll be hosted in outdoor arenas. In addition to wearing a mask, social distancing helps to decrease the number of germs you come in contact with. While cricket is an incredibly fun game to watch, it’s not worth it if you catch the coronavirus while you’re watching it.

This is another reason why it’s wise to take a look at how many people will realistically attend the games. If the arena can’t be more than 1/3 of its normal capacity, it’ll be a lot easier to maintain your distance. Even as the arenas begin to fill up, do your best to secure seating in an area that won’t be as crowded as others. Does this mean you might have to sit in the nosebleed section? Perhaps. However, you can still enjoy the game as you maintain a sense of safety and protection.

While this experience won’t last forever, it’s best to take it one day at a time. Respect your fellow sports fans by following the rules. After all, it’s about maintaining life for as many people as possible. When you’re able to maintain that perspective, it’ll be a lot easier to hang in there for the long haul.
