Article 35A hearings : whole Kashmir Observes Shut down, cancellation of weddings occurred

Srinagar, 30 August 2018: Ahead of hearing of the Article 35A on Friday in the Supreme Court of India whole Kashmir was closed down. The unprecedented two-day hartal call crippled the life on the Thursday across Kashmir valley. Schools, colleges and universities were closed. Public Traffic movement on the roads was off. Shops, business in the valley were closed down. The commercial hub of Kashmir Lalchowk was also closed. There were few traffic movements seen on the roads which were private vehicles.
A complete shutdown call was given by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against the petitions filed by. First, the hearing which was scheduled to take place on 26 and 27 was changed by Supreme Court to 30 and 31 of this month. Due to change in the hearing the strike call which was given on 26 and 27 of this month by JRL was also changed to 30 and 31 of this month.
On 27 of this month, a fake news about the hearing of Article35A triggered protests in whole Kashmir, leaving number youths injured in clashes.
The rumour was within no time called as fake news by Jammu and Kashmir police on its tweeter account;

Due to the shutdown call by JRL protest were held in from north to south by different sections of the society against the hearing of the petitions.
The Resistance Leadership consist of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Geelani and Yasin Malik have been put under house arrest. Restrictions were imposed on the first day of the two-day strike call.
Due to shut down call, all the Kashmir University exams were postponed.
In view of the call train service between Banihal to Baramullah remain suspended on 30 and 31 of August 2018.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq thanked the people of Kashmir for observing complete shutdown in the valley.

A major consequence of hartals and protest against the Article35A were the cancellation of Weddings ceremonies in Kashmir. people of Kashmir due to strike call are also postponed weddings of their near and far relatives.
Mohammad Shafi a resident of Ganderbal district of Central Kashmir had planned a big marriage ceremony for his daughter’s wedding, which was scheduled during this week is not sure that the celebration of a wedding can take place in this week. Shafi says that he is worried about the fate of Article 35A of the Constitution, which is facing a challenge in the Supreme Court, and The shutdowns and hartals against the petitions in this week cannot let the  marriage of her daughter happen.so in view of the circumstances his family has decided to post wedding feast.
In view of the situations due to Article 35A the number of classified announcements, wedding invitations people of Kashmir have to postpone their weddings.
“it is to intimate to all nears and dears who have received the invitation cards pertaining to the marriage ceremony of my son take place on August 29,30 that due current situation the invitation stands cancelled,” reads one of the wedding advertisement from a local resident of HMT area in Srinagar.
“However Nikkah ceremony will be observed with utmost simplicity, we regret the inconvenience,” the advisement further informs.
On these circumstances which the Kashmir valley has also faced in the past too, in the year 2010, when violence erupted in Kashmir valley. Also in the year,2014 when most disastrous floods hit the Kashmir valley. Also in the year 2016 when Uprising in the valley occurs due to the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani.
All political parties are including National Conference (NC) and The CPI(M) have moved to the Supreme Court in support of Article35A, except the national party BJP.
Article 35A was incorporated in 1954 with the Presidential order in the constitution of India. The Article gives special rights and privileges to the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir. the article further bars the own of property in the state by any person who belongs to another state.
In this month the hearing of petitions against the Article 35A has been deferred for two times.
